Uncirculated

Term used to describe a coin that has never seen circulation and therefore has no signs of wear whatsoever on the coin. Uncirculated covers the grades MS-60 to MS-70 on the ANA grading scale. Also referred to as Mint State.

Upsetting Mill

A machine that blanks are fed into, then gradually reduced in size by being squeezed which causes the edges to be raised and smoothed. Blanks leaving the machine with raised edges are referred to as planchets.
